Home Ron Hogan helped create the literary Internet by launching Beatrice in 1995. He spent several years writing about the business side of publishing as a senior editor for GalleyCat , then briefly worked with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as their director of e-marketing strategy.
These days, he's using all that experience to help publishing companies and individual authors develop stronger connections with their readers. He speaks frequently at book festivals and publishing conferences about how to make the best use of social networking tools, advances in digital publishing, and other transformative trends in the publishing industry. He also offers consulting services for authors and publishers who want more personal assistance in improving their online presence.
Ron also maintains an active presence in New York City's literary scene, hosting and curating events that introduce readers to great writers:
Lady Jane's Salon , the first monthly reading series dedicated to romance fiction Author/Blogger, a series of readings and interviews at Brooklyn's Greenlight Bookstore Life Stories, a "talk show" focusing on memoir writers hosted by Wix Lounge In addition to regular posts at Beatrice , Ron also writes book reviews and literary features for other websites, including Shelf Awareness , Tor.com , Heroes & Heartbreakers , Criminal Element , and the USA Network's Character Approved blog.

Consulting
Ron Hogan offers consulting services for book publishing companies as well as individual authors who want to create an online presence and social media marketing strategy that will bring measurable results.
FOR AUTHORS
Using the handbooks I've created for publishers (see below) as a foundation, I offer one-on-one sessions with authors to evaluate their existing online presence, if any, identify their online marketing goals, and develop a strategy focusing on specific techniques authors can use to achieve those goals, such as improving traffic to a website or raising visibility in social networks.
NOTE: I don't manage online marketing or publicity campaigns (though I can put you in touch with people who do). Instead, I show things you'll be able to do on your own to improve your online presence and connect with readers more effectively.
Rates: These 2-3 hour consulting sessions are usually available for $500, but for a limited time, to support the launch of my new app, you can book a session for just $100 .
FOR PUBLISHERS
I've developed a set of handbooks, "Creating an Online Presence" and "Promoting Yourself Through Social Media," for publishers to distribute to their authors, outlining the ways in which they can establish an online presence and connect with their readership in meaningful, quantifiable ways. From creating a website to analyzing that site's traffic, from launching a blog to communicating with audiences through social networks, these handbooks show authors how effective online promotion can be integrated into their existing professional lives. The handbooks are designed for easy customization and distribution through your marketing department, with upgrades available as the social media landscape changes.
Rates vary depending on the size of the publishing company and the number of authors to whom the handbooks are likely to be distributed.
